salute scandal:priest ousted after imitating musk
by: Nicky LAtigue, 2/11/2025

Priest fired for copying Elon Musk’s controversial salute, was it deserved? On January 20th Elon Musk performed a gesture that sparked a huge controversy in the community of America.
This shocking gesture was convinced to be the Nazi salute, a motion that was popular in Nazi Germany.
There is no data that is shown that it was intentional, but it was already seen in the public's eye three times making Elon Musk's reputation falter.
After debate Elon responded that he wasn’t a proclaimed Nazi and turned this into a laughing manner.
This gesture is no laughing matter, people in different communities have been wildly affected by this gesture.
That is why it’s seen as highly forbidden in Germany. With this context we can see why another person doing this gesture caused more controversy.
During a Pro-Life summit in Washington D.C. Calvin Robinson, priest of St. Paul’s Anglican Catholic Church, performed the same gesture as Musk during the end of his speech.
His license got revoked shortly after because of people assuming it was the Nazi salute.
Was it right for Mr. Robinson to get his license revoked?
Musk didn’t get anything revoked when he did it so why is he getting punished?
These are all questions Robinson was thinking in his head when the Catholic Church took his license away.
The Catholic Church expressed great disgrace in Robinson’s actions and spoke about the matter.
A few short days after Robinson revocation stating, “While we cannot say what was in Mr. Robinson’s heart when he did this, his action appears to have been an attempt to curry favor with certain elements of the American political right by provoking its opposition...”
Because of the lack of Robinson’s intentions there was only speculation.

The only thing that can be assumed was that the salute was intentional, and Robinson wanted people to see his true colors during his speech.
This caused major backlash and was acted upon aselfish against his church.
The church then continues with, “...We believe that those who mimic the Nazi salute, even as a joke or an attempt to troll their opponents, trivialize the horror of the Holocaust.”
What Robinsondid can be seen as horrific especially to those who survived the Holocaust and any wrongdoing during that time.
This act being expressed by a person who is supposed to be seen as a personyou can trust is highly distasteful.
Now this backlash can seem harsh so let's speak about Robinson’s response to the situation.
On January 25th Robinson made a Facebook post stating that he is not a Nazi, and the gesture was just a ‘joke’.
Which is a similar response to what Musk said after he made the gesture.
Throughout Robinsons post he claims, “The enemy hates that, of course, and the attacks havebeen plentiful.
That is fine and to be expected.”This section was supposed to be his defense, Robinson was just trying to mock the left-wingedpeople because who accused Musk of being a Nazi.
He simply could’ve just expressed in hisspeech that Musk is not a Nazi, but he made his choice of doing the same mistake Musk did.
At the end of Robinson’s Facebook post he proclaims, “Context is key, but sometimes people ignore context to confirm their own prejudices.
People see what they want to see. ”If context was the case in this situation, it would’ve been better if Robinson gave more context after his gesture to reassure his audience.
Robinson waited until his license was revoked to provide more context, which shows how little he cared about what he did until it affected him personally.
Calvin Robinson, former priest, acknowledges his actions but no one will really know if he is sorry for what he did.
In his defense he was mocking the people who made fun of Musk, in the oppositions point of view he was being a Nazi priest.
Everyone must also recognize how Robinson not only affected his own career but the church he previously worked at as well.
The backlash and the amount of explanation the church is gettingis something that isn’t deserved when the fault was in Robinson’s hand, literally.
The Nazi salute should never be expressed again by anybody controversy with people of power doing this causes speculation amongst America.
Robinson doing this salute made peoplespeculate more and feel distaste of their own country.
So, in all honesty did Calvin Robinson deserve to have his license revoked?
The question canonly be discussed but maybe we will see the real answer to Robinson’s future career and decisions.
At the end of the day your actions do have an effect make sure to think before you act not onpure instinct.

Tom Holland and Zendaya: A Love of the ages

In an era where celebrity relationships often fizzle out faster than a sparkler on the Fourth of July, Zendaya and Tom Holland have quietly crafted a romance that's got us all swooning. Just when we thought these two couldn't get any cuter, they've gone and upped the cost with matching tattoos.
Talk about relationship goals! Let's face it, folks – Hollywood romances are usually about as stable as a house of cards in a hurricane.
But Zendaya and Tom? They're the real deal.
These lovebirds, both 28, recently took their commitment to the next level by getting inked together at Boston Tattoo Company.
And no, they didn't go for cheesy matching hearts or each other's names (thank goodness). Instead, they opted for subtle initial tattoos – a small "t" for Zendaya and a "z" for Tom.
It's sweet, it's personal, and it's just discreet enough to keep us all guessing. But wait, there's more!
This ink-credible gesture happened just weeks before they reportedly got engaged during the holidays. If that doesn't scream "power couple," I don't know what does.
Now, let's talk about why this matters.
In a world where celebrities often treat relationships like disposable cameras, Zendaya and Tom are showing us what it means to build a lasting connection.
They've been each other's rocks since their "Spider-Man: Homecoming" days back in 2017. That's practically a lifetime in Hollywood years!
What's truly refreshing about these two is how they've managed to keep their relationship both private and authentic.
They're not plastering their love all over social media or staging paparazzi photo ops. Instead, they're giving us just enough to root for them without turning their romance into a circus act.

Remember when Tom called Zendaya "My MJ" in that adorable birthday post back in 2021?
It was like watching Peter Parker and MJ's love story come to life off-screen. And let's be honest, who among us didn't squeal a little?
But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. These two have had to navigate the treacherous waters of fame and privacy.
As Tom once said, "One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore."
Yet, they've managed to weather the storm together, proving that their bond is stronger than any tabloid headline.
So, what can we mere mortals learn from Zendaya and Tom's love story?
For starters, it's a reminder that true love doesn't need constant public validation.
It's about supporting each other, growing together, and yes, maybe getting matching tattoos if that's your thing.
Their journey from co-stars to engaged couple, marked by mutual respect, shared experiences, and now match.
As we watch this power couple take their next steps together, one thing's for sure – Zendaya and Tom are writing a love story for the ages.
And frankly, in a world that could use a little more love, I'm here for it. Aren't you?

Marvel Rivals: The next Gaming Superstar

By: Paola Calderon Ramirez

On December 6 of 2024 the game Marvel Rivals came out, and was received with warm welcome arms by the public.
Although some saw it as an Overwatch copy and paste type of game, that hasn’t stopped people from loving the game and continuing to play it.
On its release date it had more than 444,286 active players, and active player count still continues to stay within 100,000 players active or more with no signs of slowing down.( The player activity stats from the first two week from its releases date )
From the beginning, the game had 33 characters in its roster, all of them being free to play and with the release of season 1, Eternal Night Fall, released two new characters from Marvel's Fantastic 4, Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman.

With the expectation of the Human Torch and the Thing coming in the second half of the season.
I’ve been playing since its release, and would like to give my thoughts on the game along with its community based on my interactions.
My Time PlayingI would like to keep in mind, Marvel Rivals is one of my first FPS ( Frames Per Second ) games while writing this personal opinion review, so this is going based on first impressions.
My first day playing the game I was clueless on how the game worked, along with its gameplay style, something I appreciated with the game was its simple layout in the menu, and settings that you can customize to your personal preference.
I didn’t get a full grasp of the game until playing for about a week and trying out all 33 different characters during season 0, and had an amazing time playing as I bettered my skills.
As well as seeing all of the community bonding as a whole, and post their gameplays online and sharing their experiences. The Community The community of this game grew faster than expected with hitting 20 million player worldwide within the two weeks of its release, NetEase (the developers) sent out a sticker in players mailbox celebrating the milestone (The sticker sent to players to celebrate 20 million players worldwide)

Entering a new community can be a nerve racking experience, but I’ve been welcomed with open arms, and I’m very glad that I’ve encountered little to any toxic players and the negative usage of the voice chat and text chat.
People have been willing to switch off their duelists characters (dps character; damage per second character) to give me help as a strategist (the healer class) when I was getting overwhelmed during a match.
People have been trying their best to keep this a healthy and safe community, they have been working alongside the developers to do so.
Majority of the time it's toxic players that drive people away from engaging with the community.
Although not every community is safe from toxic players, I’ve encountered very few within the text chat who have used it inappropriately. And all you have to do is report the player, the process isn’t complicated.
Letting the developers take care of rest instead of getting involved personally is the best way to handle toxic players.
Overall RatePlaying this game for over a month now I’ve grown to form my own solid opinions of it, in that time encountering both the positives and negatives of this community and the game itself. My rating of this game is a solid 9/10 and would recommend for others to at least give it a try.
Every game will have its ups and downs alongside people's own experiences and their own opinions of the game.
For the majority, Marvel Rivals is a fantastic game with great graphics, a great community of players, and a development team that actually seems to care for its community of players.
The game also shined some light on some overshadowed characters within the Marvel franchise, all of which makes it a fantastic game with great potential to grow itself and its developing a loving community.
